Summer of my youth Part 1

As I ate supper with the kids, (Sandra was at work) I suggested that if they hurry up and eat they could go swimming in the newly filled pool in the back yard. Well the looks on there faces were priceless as they then proceeded to devour the rest of supper, and then that got me thinking...........Man was it sweet being a kid in the short Canadian summer. Then all these great memories started flooding back. Just like the other morning as I headed out to work I got that great smell that you get in a June morning, I really don't have words to describe the smell other than its the smell of fresh grass and leaves and it always reminds me of track & field at school that was held near the end of the school year. I always had great expectations of winning a few ribbons other than the pathetic brown "participation" ribbon every kid got for showing up, because my dad told me every year, "If you just come home with just that horrible brown ribbon again, I'm going to beat the crap out of you with this fan belt".( totally joking, but can you imagine if he did?). Yup T&R was a great time because it also meant that school was almost over and summer was upon us. On the last day of school our bus driver Orest Petroesky, this old Ukrainian perverted farmer who wore top gun shades and had almost no teeth, would take us to this small town drive thru in LLB called V&H and buy us a burger and a pop each, which was pretty sweet since all the other kids on other buses only got a freakn' small ice cream cone. Then after a 1.25 hr bus ride home(not joking) we got home and told Mom & Dad we passed and then we got a cool present for passing the grade.Sweet.

Then the start of summer really began. On the last bus ride home my brother Cory was probably planning in his head the fort we would build that summer. Every year there was a fort to be built and sometimes maybe even two. I not quite sure of where we got all of our building materials, but there was always lots of wood and Dads tools were always for the taking in the garage. But before any fort was to be built Mom had a huge garden that needed to be weeded about this time of year. Anybody that knew us, knew we had a stinkn' huge garden that had endless rows of peas and green & yellow beans that us kids loved eat but hated to keep up. I cant believe that after all those summers of building forts that I'm the only one in construction for a living. Oh to be a child with only petty worries.............I love being a responsible adult but there is a part of me that wishs life were that simple again. I don't have any real pictures of us and our forts but the picture above is pretty accurate even to the point of Corys spiked hair on top and free flowing mullet on the back. I've called this segment part 1 because after reflecting last night there is so much more and I don't have time today to tell them all.

Yoko Pronger

This apparently is what went down at the pronger household a few days ago. I was in B.C for a few days and come back to this mess. Then I had to break it to my 3 year son Noah ( who calls him pris pronger) that pronger didn't want to play for the oilers anymore, and this is the transcript

ME: son, I got bad news for you................pris pronger doesn't want to play for the oil anymore
NOAH: oh...................Is Georges Laroque still going to play next year?
ME: ah....................yes son I believe KLowe will sign him again ( I had to lie, you would too if you saw his face)
NOAH: But he didn't play last game.........He didn't play a lot of games
ME: No he didn't son....................No he didn't

Well we all know a few guys who are married, and the wife totally wears the pants 24-7........We can now add pronger to that list of pathetic gutless sissies.

here is my plan for summer of 06'

sign redden as a UFA
trade pronger and bergeron to FLA for Bowmeisster Horton and weiss
sign Roloson
win cup in 07'

Game 6 anyone?

This is a picture of happiness. I know what your thinking, man thats one nasty ot winner face. But at some point last night after the Castledowns shadow ninja (pictured left) ended
the hurricanes hopes of lifting our cup over their heads, we all looked like that i'm sure. Big win and game 6 should be a doozy. The refs last night were as bad as it gets, and I hope colin campbell doesnt let them ref another game in the finals.

Torres was a wrecking ball last nite, and after he knocked d.wieght out I wanted to hug Torres. The only thing worse than a Oiler loss is seeing that greedy bugger weight lift the cup over his overpaid head. Torres made sure that if he did, it would tough to do with a seprated shoulder.

Billy Moores...... save us!!!

This is the man who holds our playoff lives in his hands, because he is a master tactician and he will have a better game plan than last nights crap show.(billy moores looks like he picked the free pair of glasses from Mac T's buy 1 get the second free purchase at lens crafters) Acually the first period was the best in the finals yet but after that we ran out of gas. Just a few random thoughts from last night contest

- I knew we were in for a broadcasting treat when Bob Cole is calling out the starting line ups as the players are ready to take the face off and he calls out smyth, horcoff, and hemsky when clearly it was peca,pisani,torres.......my 19 month old daughter caught that one.

- Can our power play get any worse? They wouldn't win the Joey moss cup with that power play.

- After Jussi flat out stones one of the hurricanes with the stacked pad stop and the crowd goes freakn' nuts bob cole belts out, " Wow this crowd is really TURNED ON!" I almost expected him next to yell out " Put the kids to bed folks, cause they are real horney now!"

- Pronger = a big ball of crap right now. Not only was he the cause of the winning goal, but he can't hit the net to save his life. Clearly him and peca head have to step up there game to the level of the ducks series if we are to have a chance to come back and win this thing.

- I am almost positive that in order for us as Canadians to get somebody other than bob & harry in the booth for all the important games on CBC, they are going to have to be assinated. Seriously, because CBC will just let them die up there if we don't do something. Im thinking a car bomb in the taxi from the hotel to game 5. Maybe if were lucky don cherry and greg millen will jump in the cab too, and all our problems will be solved. [DISCLAIMER: I am just joking, I would much rather they all die from natural causes]

- suggested line up changes - robbie shremp in for big gay georges. I love georges but MAC T hardly ever plays him and at least shemp gives a new dimention on the PP which we sorely need right now.
